A Short History
The Great American Beer Festival has come quite a ways in its 40-plus year history. From hosting 24 breweries in its inaugural event to featuring over 800 at its peak, it is quite a remarkable accomplishment, and you have to see it with your own eyes to truly understand the scope of it. The festival was founded by Charlie Papazian in 1982 in Boulder, CO. Every year, breweries also submit thousands of their competition-worthy brews to be judged by a panel of hundreds of judges. You won’t want to miss this opportunity to join tens of thousands of thirsty beer enthusiasts and drink award-winning beers of all styles to your heart’s content.
What to Expect
You can expect to have the option to try every style of beer you can think of, and likely some you can’t, all being served by hundreds of breweries from all over the country (and some international participants). If there is a brewery that you wish you could visit, but they are too far away, it is likely that they will be in attendance pouring some amazing beer. Be sure to visit the GABF official website for a comprehensive list of all of the breweries and beers that are going to be served at this year's festival. Besides beer, there will be cider and spirits. There will also be N/A (non-alcoholic) beverages and beer options for designated drivers. There will be live music, and food trucks will be scattered about the fest to ensure that you have plenty of food to keep the party moving along!
